Fanfare Ciocărlia and the Boban & Marko Markovic Orchestra are both widely known, and it can also be said that they are the best Roma-Balkan-brass ensemble in the world. Both have for decades been busy in the name of ultra-fast horns as well as folksy, highly entertaining dance music. Here they are for the first time together on the same stage, in a race against and of course along with each other.

To listen to Katzenjammer is like a ride on a nutty cockamamie carousel; fast, exciting and you just can‘t get enough. A foursome is enough for the stage, the Norwegians play all the instruments themselves and at the same time in changing roles. Classic drum, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, up to a folklore-ish balalaika bass with a brash cat face.

Suzanne Vega is one of the most widely known singer-songwriters. She is also one of the few who over the years have managed to constantly evolve. Her talent enables her to craft jewels that are simultaneously catchy and profound. Her best-known song “Tom‘s Diner“ was the first MP3 song to be published. Her crystal clear voice that through finely played instruments in the duo presentation fashions a sense of space is a timeless classic.

Every tenor and soprano saxophonist today stands in the long shadow of the great John Coltrane. For Ravi Coltrane (whose name is in honor of the sitar player Ravi Shankar) the shadow is especially long considering that he is the son of the genius who passed away in 1967. The musician however is not one for plagiarism, but instead reworks his heritage to an independent, personal style with humor and playfulness.

In 2003, Wir Sind Helden with their first album “Reklamation“ imprinted a new, jagged German-electro pop and released a wave of fresh German-language music. Two albums and a three-year sabbatical later, they are back with “Bring mich nach Hause“. The lyrics and the laconic, intelligent handling of the words paint the picture of a band around Judith Holofernes. The instrumentation has changed, the eminently danceable and melodic flavour remains the same.

The flight into the musician scene is nothing new for the actors of the Theaterhaus. Already in productions of years past the actors made music. The ensemble rocks with skewed and slanted melodies, catchy tunes and absurd interpretations on the stage and sometimes over the footlights in Kassa. Sporty, lustfull – and above all musically. “A voice you can get addicted to.“ With enthusiasm critics and fans praise Alin Coens tender-melodic, yet self-assured songs. Born in 1982 at Hamburg with German-Mexican roots, she creates with her band a sound that caresses the ears. Her songs tell a story of hope and despair, of love and letting go. This sound isn‘t heard, but rather experienced. A music far from the pop consortium.

The textual and likewise musically refreshingly irreverent songs of the 26-year-old American woman reference Tom Waits, and also Randy Newman, but at the end of the day she is well on her way, singularly and unmistakably on the way into the Great American Songbook. Her songs are treasures, succinct and ironic, magnificently done. A discovery and evidently a wonderful talent! Budam is in search of the obscure and little-known faces in the minds and hearts of men. Inspired from artists like Nick Cave and Ennio Morricone, Budam combines varied genres in a brew that is confidently described as ‚Heavy Songwriting‘. The artsy from the Faroese islands delivers the perfect unit from theatrical, untamed performance and musical transferability.

Miss Li sounds cocky. The piano-pop songwriter jingles fully audaciously and good humoured through her songs and delivers a joie de vivre and positive attitude towards life and searches for those of similar ilk. So it‘s no wonder that Mrs. Amy Winehouse tugged on the great Dap-Kings for her equally great „Back To Black“ album.
